Hey, I'm Justin-Benjamin 'JB' Taylor. I'm a registered Landscape Architect (CSLA, BCSLA) living & working in Vancouver since finishing a Masters at UBC SALA in 2016. Prior to that, I attended uWaterloo School of Planning, where I received a professional degree in urban planning, majoring in Urban Design & minoring in Knowledge Integration — i.e. trans-disciplinary studies.

In every new design, I take opportunities to jump-down every available rabbit-hole to fully understand the context of the problem, the research that precedes it, and the nuances that are a catalyst for an iterative process. The idea of trans-disciplinarity — that complex problems cannot be solved by a single discipline, or even just by professionals — is an ever-present mantra. For example, my Master's thesis straddled the unlikely intersection of landscape architecture and astronautics; considering the potential role and voice of the landscape architect in the continued discussion on space exploration and habitability. This work was published and presented in 2016 at an international NASA-led space conference.

In 2020 I co-founded the Black+Indigenous Design Collective, please take a look at our current programs and help share our mission with other if you appreciate our vision! I'm also a small-batch ceramist... Check out my hobby work NewbieCeramics.com, on Instagram or TikTok
